Women Empowerment: Importance Of Education For Women

"When girls are educated, their countries become stronger and more prosperous."
                                                                                                               -Michelle Obama

Education the most powerful weapon in the world. We all know that education is globally accepted as the most powerful means of expressing our thoughts. When it comes to education, there are numerous critical issue that requires attention and one of the burning issue is Women Education.

I have heard many people talking about Women Empowerment but hardly few of them understand the importance of this. Before we talk about  women empowerment, let's talk about women education as the education is a key factor for women empowerment prosperity, development and welfare.

According to the survey, total population in India is 1.35 billion, out of which 48.40 % is the percentage of women in India. And, when it comes to literacy rate, it is 65.46 % for women and 82.14 % for men and overall it is 74.04 %. So, from the above we come to know that the literacy rate in India for women is very low as compared to men.

We sometimes forget the fact that the "Education is for all", as it teach us to face the world with dignity and also protect us from the violation of our human rights. Now, when we talk about education, every child irrespective of gender, has a right to equal educational opportunities. Women constitute more than 60% of the world’s population which ought to place them as pacemaker in education. Sadly, in some countries, girl-child education is neglected due to cultural beliefs and negligence. Women are seen as only relevant in the kitchen activities and for procreation purpose.

There is a saying, "If you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you educate a woman, you educate a nation". And, this is a fact, educating a woman brings about self-esteem and confidence to fight for herself. Working women around the world serves as the inspiration to all. I have listed few of them:

1. Indra Nooyi, Chairperson and CEO of PepsiCo
2. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Founder of Biocon India
3. Vandana Luthra, Founder of VLCC and many more.

These women used their education to become successful and are known for their work. Government has taken initiative to eradicate this problem. You might want to know more about what are the Government initiatives, barriers for women for education, importance of education, statistics, so here is the article on "Why Is Education Important For Women?". However, this a problem for every individual. Lets fight against this and make the world a better place to live for women as well.
